Superheavy dark matter as UHECR source versus the SUGAR data
نویسندگان
چکیده
Decay or annihilation products of superheavy dark matter (SHDM) could be responsible for the end of the Ultra-High Energy Cosmic Ray (UHECR) spectrum. In this case, the south array of the Pierre Auger Observatory should observe in the future a significant anisotropy of UHECR arrival directions towards the galactic center. Here we use the already existing data of the SUGAR array to test this possibility. If decaying SHDM is distributed according a Navarro-Frenk-White (NFW) dark matter profile with core radius Rc = 15 kpc and is responsible only for UHECRs above ∼ 6 × 10 eV, i.e. the AGASA excess, then the arrival directions measured by the SUGAR array have a probability of ∼ 10% to be consistent with this model. By contrast, the model of annihilating SHDM is disfavoured at least at 99% CL by the SUGAR data, if the smooth component of the DM dominates the signal. PACS numbers: 98.70.Sa, 14.80.-j

Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays from Cosmological Relics
The current status of origin of Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECR) is reviewed, with emphasis given to elementary particle solutions to UHECR problem, namely to Topological Defects and Super-Heavy Dark Matter (SHDM) particles. The relic superheavy particles are very efficiently produced at inflation. Being protected by gauge discrete symmetries, they can be long lived. They are clustering in...

We demonstrate that the energy spectra of Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECR) as observed by AGASA, Fly's Eye, HiRes and Yakutsk detectors , have the imprints of UHE proton interaction with the CMB radiation as the dip centered at E ∼ 1 × 10 19 eV, beginning of the GZK cutoff, and very good agreement with calculated spectrum shape. This conclusion about proton composition agrees with recent H...
متن کاملAnisotropy of Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays in the Halo Models
The harmonic analysis of anisotropy of Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays is performed for the halo model. In this model the relic superheavy particles comprise the part of Dark Matter and are concentrated in the Galactic halo. The Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays are produced at the decays of these particles. Anisotropy is caused by asymmetric position of the Sun in the Galactic halo. The maximum anis...
متن کاملUhe Neutrino Astronomy and Neutrino Oscillations
UHE neutrinos with E > 10 eV can be produced by ultra-high energy cosmic rays (UHECR) interacting with CMB photons (cosmogenic neutrinos) and by top-down sources, such as topological defects (TD), superheavy dark matter (SHDM) and mirror matter. Cosmogenic neutrinos are reliably predicted and their fluxes can be numerically evaluated using the observed flux of UHECR. The lower limit for the flu...
متن کاملUltrahigh energy cosmic rays from collisional annihilation revisited
We re-examine collisional annihilation of superheavy dark matter particles in dark matter density spikes in the galactic halo as a possible source of ultrahigh energy cosmic rays. We estimate the possible flux in a way that does not depend on detailed assumptions about the density profiles of dark matter clumps. The result confirms that collisional annihilation is compatible with annihilation c...
